ENVIRONMENT
Lobato preserves the environment Hantavirus and the plague are reoccurring in New Mexico. Rodents carry these diseases and rodents are the primary food of coyotes. DOMENICI VOTED FOR INCREASED FUNDING TO ERADICATE COYOTES under the Animal Damage Control Act.

The 1872 Mining Act allowed sales of minerals on federal lands: $1 billion in minerals to a Danish mining company for $275 and $10 billion for gold to a Canadian firm for $10,000. LOBATO says repeal this law not taxes for the wealthy and big business as Domenici supports.

Domenici supports the sale of federal land to private ownership. Already New Mexico's water supplies are strained by municipal and rural use. Domenici's desire to move federal land to private hands would enlarge wealthy people's land holdings and allow them profits from development but it would hurt the rest of us living in New Mexico.
