Maybe you can't make it to HoopCamp this year, but you can still join our team. HoopCamp is one of the nation's most innovative learning opportunities.
HoopCamp pioneered a "unified" camp structure where players, coaches and staff of all ages and skill levels work and play together.
There are only winners at HoopCamp, and we invite you to participate.
HoopCamp began in 1993 with a few dozen Special Olympic athletes and became an official "not for profit" 501 (c)3 organization in 2004. Your generous donation not only helps hundreds of young people each year, but it is also tax deductible.
HoopCamp innovates off the court as well. All of our staff, including directors, coaches, and staff, volunteer their time. Nobody receives a paycheck at HoopCamp, so your generous contribution directly supports the camp activities.
HoopCamp at a glance:
- Over 18,000 volunteer hours have been logged since HoopCamp began.
- No coaches or staff are compensated at HoopCamp -- ALL are
volunteers.
- Fifteen Boy Scouts have volunteered at HoopCamp and earned the highest rank in Scouting of being an Eagle Scout.
- Our oldest athlete was 73 years old.
- One Special Needs athlete could dunk a basketball.
- Many of our athletes have competed in sporting events internationally.
- Many have won gold medals in Special Olympic participation.
- Our younger and smaller athletes play on 8' baskets.
- Our coach to athlete ratio is 1:4.
- HoopCamp is a 501 (c)3 non-profit corporation registered with the IRS. All
donations are deductible.
Past and current voluteers agree unanimously -- coaching and playing at HoopCamp is priceless. The overwhelming spirit that dominates HoopCamp is based on giving, sharing and growing together!
