Make a Difference Today: Don't Buy for Peace!
We've all been active attending rallies, furthering email or reflecting in prayer in our effort to prevent our current president from dragging us into a disastrous military conflict. This past week, millions of people around the world walked together to protest this greed and madness. It's now time to step up our efforts.
-- SEE: Understanding the Opposition to this War --

Most of you know the adage of capitalism about "consumers voting with their dollars." One thing is certain, Blood-Thirsty Bush will never allow us to vote politically on this war effort. Yet we all know "it's the economy, stupid."

More than one hundred and fifty years ago, one of our most revered presidents was compelled to make a magnanimous decision. To save our nation, he attacked his own people. Our leaders should never have to make such a choice again.
Millions March Against War With Iraq
MILLIONS MARCH AGAINST AN UNJUST WAR

Yet President Lincoln left us with one of the world's most enlightened observations, "You can fool ALL the people SOME of the time; you can fool SOME of the people ALL the time; yet you cannot fool ALL the people ALL the time."

President Bush, this emperor of war, is "wearing no clothes."

You are aware that Russia, China, Germany and France vehemently oppose Bush's military plans. Today, most of the world learned that Turkey, a nation that borders Iraq and who has had a long history of tension with the Kurds of Northern Iraq, balked at our president's offer of $26 billion to "rent" military bases in their country. President Bush has been unable to bribe his way past this democratic nation (although he may eventually sweeten the deal sufficient to coerce their compliance).

This isn't an action the world is dying to join. Bush has only gained support due to heavy-handed bargaining or financial pressures.

Most alarming, leaders of the world's recognized Iraqi opposition coalitions, those who will lead a new Iraq if Saddam is deposed, announced on Febrary 19, 2003 that Bush's proposed occupation and military administration of Iraq is "unworkable and unwise." These members have been working -- and dying -- for more than three decades to reform Iraq, yet they now oppose Bush's master plan as well.

Quoting various leaders specifically, "This isn't a workable proposal. I'm very disappointed that our friend America is acting this way." And, notably, "Now I think the U.S. is only interested in oil..."

We've believed this all along. Now, it's time to act, and here's how: Beginning tomorrow, start voting with your dollars. Buy only what you essentially need. This means basic food and sustenance items. Boycott Bush by stalling his war plans. For example, rather than buy a new car, call your dealer and tell them why you won't be considering one at this time. Thinking of a large new purchase, call the company and tell them why you won't be considering it now.

We've had twelve years of peace with Iraq, due to current UN oversight. While we agree the world must strengthen their position, war in not the answer. Strike at the heart of the Bush plan! He is rushing into this military action only to enrich his political friends. Affect their bottom line, and they'll get the message to him lickety split!

If you're wondering which side Big Business is on, take a look at the price of gas at a station near your home. Not one bullet has been fired, yet oil costs more today than it has in years. These dealers are gouging you. They're playing on the world's fears. The more you fear, the more they make. Let them drink gasoline with their filet mignon.

Start now. Don't buy for peace!

Before Bush drops bombs on the kids and families of Iraq; before he spills the blood of innocent young American women and men sworn to serve and protect ALL of us with their lives, don't buy...

Spread the message. We can reach millions in hours. Keep your other anti-war activities going, but:
DON'T BUY FOR PEACE
