Welcome

HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital's dedicated employees welcome you to our rehabilitation hospital. We take pride in serving our community since 1988, and are committed to offering the care and support you need to achieve the most complete recovery possible.

HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Albuquerque was awarded the distinction of Stroke Center of Excellence in 2003, and recently was designated a National Parkinson Foundation Care Center.

We will develop an individualized treatment plan based on the needs and goals identified by you, your family and our rehabilitation team. Then we will use that plan as a guide, working together to help you reach the highest level of physical, social and emotional well-being.

As the nation's largest provider of Rehabilitation services, HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital maintains the highest standards with respect to the safety and cleanliness of our facilities and the training and experience of our staff. As a result, you can be sure of receiving exceptional care.

Rehab patients at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital in Albuquerque are assessed using the Functional Independence Measure (see "Outcomes" for scoring information). Data is submitted to the Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation (UDSmR), and comparisions are made to other facilities within our region and nationally. The most recent statistics on our stroke and neuro programs are shown below:

Overall Outcome Comparison for Stroke and Neuro
Admission FIM 34.1 44.7 36.8
  Discharge FIM 67.9 66.6 57.9
  FIM Change 33.8 21.9 21.1
  Length of Stay 16 14 15
  Discharge to
Community
89% 81% 80%

Functional Independence Measure (FIM) scores, as shown above, measure the burden of care required for a patient entering and leaving a rehabilitation setting. Lower FIM scores indicate a higher level of dependence upon a caregiver for basic activities of daily living, bowel and bladder, mobility, communication and cognition.
